Patchwork in its original form is atype of needlework that involves sewing discarded fabric scraps into a larger overall geometric design. Patchworking as a creative means to recycle and reuse fbric has evolved in many cultures; from the tropical and nature-inspired Hawaiian pieceworks to the rural Japanese indigo Boro.
Lanna art attributes a large share of its creative inspiration from the beauty and use of objects and designs observed in the worship of buddha and in the buddhist religion ie : streaked stucco patterns and striped triangles that adorn the temple sanctuary. Moreover, Lanna Art has incorporated some of its visual motifs through close observation of nature and of the tropical forests that surround Lanna artists.
