I recently came accross your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I dont know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog.

กรุงเทพช่วงหนึ่งจ้องแต่จะเป็นศูนย์กลางแห่งแฟชั่น ซึ่งเป็นความคิดที่ตื้นมาก แทนที่จะส่งเสริมในเรื่องพื้นฐานอย่างเรื่องรสนิยมในศิลปะเสียก่อน เพราะเป็นเรื่องมวลรวม ไม่ใช่เรื่องเฉพาะกลุ่มอย่างแฟชั่น ก็ไม่ทราบว่าผู้ที่เข้าไปบริหารเรื่องนี้คิดอะไร ตื้นแค่ไหน แต่มันไม่ make sense อย่างแรง เป็นเรื่องที่ควรรับรู้นะ

The truth is, there’s more to design than just fashion design. The then government must not have known that fact. Design is all around us.

And before we can become a design center, we need to solve the problem of counterfeits first. I know so many designers, both Thai and Farang, who are afriad of selling their works in Thailand because they are afraid that their works would be copied and sold at a much lower price.

The then government should have paid more attention to that rather than putting on a big parade showing international labels. But we all know that they only cared about the superficial look of the event…just like many of their populist campaigns.

TCDC also needs to showcase more works of our local designers. It’s good to see works from abroad but if we really want to promote our designs abroad and to become a design center, it has to begin here at home first.

Instead of talking about Eames all the time, maybe it’s time to talk about Osisu more often.

ช่างเป็นเมืองที่น่าอยู่(และหางานทำ)จริงๆเรย….^.^

การคิดที่จะเป็นศูนย์กลางเมืองแฟชั่นเป็นความคิดที่ดี แต่วิธีการและระบบการจัดการที่นำมาใช้นั้นสำคัญ ต้องมีแผนทำอย่างต่อเนื่อง ซึ่งถ้าจะให้ประสบความสำเร็จต้องใช้ส่วนผสมหลายอย่าง เห็นด้วยในเรื่องรากฐานที่ดีทางรสนิยมศิลปะ-วัฒนธรรมเพื่อเป็นพื้นฐานการพัฒนางานออกแบบของประเทศในระยะยาว น่าเสียดายมากที่คนที่มีสิทธิอำนาจในงานกรุงเทพเมืองแฟชั่นไม่สามารถบริหารจัดการในระยะยาวได้ มองอีกมุม งานกรุงเทพเมืองแฟชั่นอาจเป็นประโยชน์กับกลุ่มอุตสาหกรรมหนึ่ง (เสื้อผ้าสิ่งทอ) ซึ่งไม่ใช่เราก็ได้ เขาเหล่านั้นคงดีใจที่มีโอกาสได้เปิดเวทีในบ้านเราและเป็นการเปิดตลาดสู่เมืองนอก ซึ่งมันอาจเป็นเจตนารมย์ที่ดี แต่ขาดการบริหารจัดการและวิสัยทัศน์ที่มองไปข้างหน้า ก็ทำให้กลายเป็นสิ่งฉาบฉวย ซึ่งประสบความสำเร็จหรือไม่นั้น ก็คงได้เรียนรู้เรื่องจริงจากโปรเจคชั่วคราวนี้ไปแล้ว
